These substances are injected under the skin to improve both the quality and functioning of the skin. The Biostimulators that are available are made from either calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHa) or Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA). Their main function is to stimulate natural collagen formation in the face, neck and décolleté areas. Body treatments are also now becoming available with PLLA for buttocks/knees. The ideal candidate for this treatment would be those with early signs of aging, fine lines and sagging skin in the lower face or neck. Biostimulator treatments differ from dermal fillers in that they do not volumize or ‘fill’ areas but rather stimulate lasting collagen to firm up and tighten the skin, as well as improve skin quality to reveal a youthful glow. This process takes time and therefore these treatments take 2- 3 months to start showing results, which then last for 2+ years. Repeated treatments may be necessary to achieve and maintain the desired results.
